Final Fantasy II

Today lets talk about Final Fantasy II! As you already know this games already part of final fantasy series, and for your information the stories there is nothing to do with final fantasy I. There is in fact nothing related with final fantasy I even its about the story and the characters.

The game basically about the same with final fantasy I, but of course with some of improvement and changed with games system. I will not talking about basic anymore because, come on, it's about the same with FFI haha.

But lets talk about story first. The story following by 4 vilager teenagers that found out their village just got attack by the emperor army, unfortunately they are not strong enough and defeated by them. The protagonist wake up in the resistance base and found out that two of his friends also found by the resistance army as well, Unfortunately the last one of his friends went missing. They begin their journey by helping the resistance to fight the emperor and they will got accompany by forth character that will changed as the story progressed.

The games it's almost the same with the first game, however, here you won't find your character leveling up. Yeah, and how that supposed to works? Well, they not actually leveling up, but you can strengthen them up by fight the enemies or using magic and various equipment. Instead of having your character leveling up from 1 to 2, in FFII your character will be development in really specific ways. Like if you keep using sword or another offensive armor, your STR (strength the power of efensive) will be increased, and if you keep using magic your MND will be increasing and makes your magic stronger. Also talking about magic, your magic will be leveling up by keep using them up, you won't find any shop that sell Ice II, instead your magic will becomes stronger by keep using them, the only downfall in this system are; since one character only able to carry some of magic and not all magic in the game, the magic that keep stronger will cost pretty MP and you can't use low level magic anymore (ex: if your fire reach level 5 you can't use fire 3, the only way is; to put new spell fire and make it grow it to 3) so here, you need very cheerful about using a magic.

This is the video to give you some sample how Final Fantasy 2 game play:

And about costumize your characters, this games have advance system, there is no job, instead you made your specific character into specific job you want, by equip them with armor your desired and act as the job you want it to be. Short story, any character can equip any weapon and armor also magics, neat? Yeah it could be neat, but the leveling up system quite suck and requires 3 times harder than normal leveling up.

Same like the first game, FFII has been made the remake version in the same platform that I mention about FFI. They made it in IOS, PSP, and GBA. In my opinion, you can choose any you want to play it, I believed there is not much changed in FFII but they are still quite neat to play. But I suggest pick in IOS version.

So try them out guys :).

Mark
Good:
-full customized more advance and wider than FF1
-the conversation methods pretty good and well made
-an apreance of guest characters
-complex of the story very nice, and matured content

Bad:
-seriously you can't tell when you can fight the boss, since you don't have any marking (cough* level)
-instead leveling up your strength maybe you leveling your defense, totally not accurate

Overall : 8

Final Fantasy I

Final fantasy, it's RPG games made by squaresoft (now becomes square Enix). Final fantasy known to be one of the oldest RPG games, furthermore it's becomes the first of RPG games breakthrough.

The story about 4 heroes of light that doing their adventure to stop the world fall into chaos, along the way the heroes will be helping many people trough their journey, and also meet many vicious enemy along the way.

Final fantasy known as infinite cycle where darkness and light both exist, even though darkness success to be defeated but they will merge again somedays, it's same goes to the light. It's comes from term "darkness can't be exist without the light and the light can't be exist without the darkness" thus this made final fantasy story straight forward where you played as good guys.

I've been playing final fantasy quite long now, even though originally final fantasy I it's not my first games in final fantasy series, the first one it's final fantasy IX. When I laid my hands to this games I know I'm gonna enjoyed it very much, I mean you are 6 years old and playing RPG it's quite something right? And I'm finished the games though haha.

This is link to YouTube, this is example how Final Fantasy one played in GBA:

This is note for people who wants to play final fantasy series:
-the numbers means nothing to do with the story related, as far as I know nones of them have connection. However, when final fantasy series decided to make sequel or prequel usually they still using the "number" that representataive the series to marks which story they actually working/related too (ex: final fantasy VII: crisis core is prequel of Final Fantasy VII, and final fantasy X-2 are sequel of final fantasy X) it's means if you want to know what happen after final fantasy X you should play final fantasy X-2 and goes on.

We back to the first generation, I played it when I still had my PS One, the game controlled quite easy to understand, and you can customize your character even in the early of games where you can choose up to 6 classes where this classes can be evolve to the strong classes. There is; warrior, black Mage, white Mage, thief, monk, red mage. You can choose 4 for your adventure so the rest will be not participate in the battle or story, simply said they won't appear. And the classes it self have they own unique ability along with their flaw, so you should choose wisely.

You can moved your characters on the screen, and the only action you could do is talking to object or people, there is will be no hack and slash here. When you out of town and if you step on the enemies you will send to the battlefield dimension where you can used combat for your character to defeat the enemies, you can used sword to kill them or you could used magic, and if you In tough spot you can used item or white magic to heal your teams. Or retreat if you scare so much hahaha.

As the story progress you will have a vehicle to help you in your journey, there will be canoe, ship, and airship. Neat isn't? When you unlock airship you will be able to access place that you can't at the begining of the stories and more fast also.

Later on when you meet bahamut, he will give you his blessing and transform your class to the greater class, however, the transformation only valid with current class (ex: black Mage will be transform into wizard. Thus, warrior only can become knight and warrior can't be wizard. And so on) here is the trick I played; you can meet bahamut early on in the games, after you defeated the first Boss (earth boss) you can gain your airship and flew to the bahamut liar and do his request to gain class transformation, however, this also means the game will be lot tougher but only during bahamut request after that you can catch up with others boss.

Until today, final fantasy I has been build or remake in many version, the well known is for GBA, PSP, and IOS. If you ask me what the different? In matter of gameplay they all the same with the first generation on snes and PS One, however, in latest version there is new features where you no longer using number to count your magic that can be used, instead they using actual MP bar and number to determined it. Also, in the latest version to gain money and Exp will be lot easier, but the game not that easy since every boss gain twice their HP and stronger comparing to their counter part in the first generation. There is new dungeon and new boss, even though this dungeons are optional and don't have any related to the main story, the value of this dungeon are quite good. There is new equipment and item as the reward.

In IOS version
 In PSP version
 In GBA version

Then here if you decided to played it, I suggest played it in GBA version. For my taste, pixelated much cooler than the 2D graphic one, however, it's yours to decided what you wanna played but all the new version that I mention at the above much better and please choose between 3 of them.

Lastly for my taste Final Fantasy I, it's very appealing for the newbie of RPG gamer, it's better if you tried this one first. You won't regret it.

Mark:
Good-
-the graphic and world display very nice and well visualized, you can feel the fantasy ages where dragon and fairy are exist.
-battle system easy to understand even without tutorial
-full capability to customize your characters like armor and magic
-the transformation of class have another ability and buff status

Bad-
-often you find yourself lost
-even you talking to NPC sometimes it's not clear where you should go next
-once your party member died, you need to go to church to revived them and it's cost pretty money in the early of games

Overall it's: 9
